Text Box: ALLEN PARK, MI – Everyone knows that aliens visit Earth and walk among us Earthlings. Everyone also knows that said aliens probably do not mean any harm, they are just “studying” us. What do you do though, when you realize that you may be working for one?
That is the question that Karen M. Smith, Teen Librarian at the Allen Park Public Library began asking herself when she noticed that her Director, Sandi Blakney, seemed to always be around when strange things happened.
First, it was the copier. “One day it just began freaking out anytime she walked by.” Smith said. “Then things like craft supplies began to go missing. All the staff would look and look for them, and then all of sudden Sandi Text Box: would ‘find’ them in an odd place.”
Smith has been a librarian for eight years and worked at the library for ten. Blakney has worked at the library for eleven years and been the Director for seven. They have always had a great working relationship, but Smith just could not shake the feeling that Ms. Blakney was “other-worldly.” So, being an experienced librarian, she began to investigate.
She discovered Sandy Nichols, founder and president of Alien Research Group (ARG). Mr. Nichols explained some of the things to look for when trying to decipher if someone is an alien. Things to look for:
Extreme intelligence
Amazing organizational abilities
Children are naturally drawn Text Box: to them
Do not like being videotaped or having their picture taken
Unusual eating habits
Strange eyes
“I could not believe it,” said Smith. “She met all of the signs. By looking at her desk, most people may not believe that she is organized, I think her messy desk is her trying to overcompensate and throw us off the trail. Also, she is always eating mixed greens salads, which is really nothing more than weeds, and her eyes change color depending on what color she is wearing. Now, I truly believe she is an alien.”
When asked if she was going to quit her job Smith responded, “No way! I think it is pretty cool to have an alien for a boss.”

Text Box: Hobo Handcuffed to Librarian
Text Box: ALLEN PARK, MI – It was a stormy summer day when the hobo entered the library. Erica, the librarian, was watching That 70’s Show on her computer. Then she went out to find the book “New Moon.” She reached out to grab the book at the same time as the hobo.
Their hands touched, they immediately looked into each other’s eyes and they fell in love instantly. The got married the next day and left for Vegas.
In Vegas, at a casino, she saw his greedy side. So, when they got home, she wanted a divorce, but he wouldn’t stand for Text Box: that. So he sat down and handcuffed their hands together.
The hobo kidnapped Erica and took her away to a delicious house made of candy. It wasn’t long until the candy house would “magically” disappear. But the candy house went sooner than it imagined, the hobo was dying of starvation; but not anymore.
Erica now had a huge smile on her face because she had poisoned the candy house! So after the hobo had his last moments on Earth, she cut off his hand.
Erica was now free of the hobo, but not the handcuffs. Text Box: Even today you can see the handcuffs on her wrist as she walks around the library.
